1. Remuneration under this scheme, which is considered to be part of the Danish State's cultural promotion measures, is financed by a grant in the Finance Act allocated by Parliament.
A political agreement from October 2006 ensures a stable environment for public lending rights in Denmark for yet another four year period (2007-2010). Only minor more technical changes in the regime has been made. A new political agreement is expected to be negotiated for the subsequent years.
2. Entitled to shares of the grant in Denmark can be summarised as follows:
1) All authors of books originally written in the Danish language.
2) Translators (but not authors) of books written in a foreign language and translated into Danish.
3) Illustrators, visual artists, photographers and composers whose works are included in the books mentioned above under point 1, or have been published separately in book form in Denmark.
4) Surviving spouses or cohabiters of deceased receivers of remuneration registered with the PLR scheme before 2003.
5) Children under the age of 18 years, provided that the other parent is deceased or not entitled
3. Calculation of the remuneration is based on: the character of an entitled
person's
contribution to a book, the type of book, number of pages, number of entitled
contributors, and the number of copies in public libraries to the extent that the book stock of these libraries is registered
in machine-readable form.
4. Special funds are set aside for remuneration for recorded music and visual
art.
